Why Join Our Board

At MARS (Microcollective for AI, Robotics, and the Sciences), our mission is to revolutionize education by integrating cutting-edge STEM disciplines with the arts and humanities, equipping students with both technical and creative skills to excel in the modern world.

By joining our Board of Directors, you have the opportunity to shape the future of learning, guiding innovative programs that inspire the next generation of thinkers and creators. Your leadership will help us expand our impact, fostering a community where students become producers of technology rather than mere consumers.

Together, we can empower young minds to innovate and create, driving progress in both STEM and the arts.

Board Member Responsibilities:

We are currently recruiting 4-8 new board members for the following roles:

  • Vice President: Support the President, contribute to key initiatives, and shape MARS’s impact.

  • Treasurer: Oversee financial administration, ensuring transparency and strategic budgeting.

  • Members-at-Large: Contribute expertise in areas like marketing, curriculum development, community engagement, and technology integration.

These roles offer a unique opportunity to build a solid foundation for MARS, develop programs that inspire young innovators, and establish partnerships that align with our mission.

Benefits of serving on the MARS Board

Serving on our board provides opportunities to:

  • Influence the direction of a pioneering K-12 STEM education model

  • Build connections with other local leaders and innovators in education and technology

  • Participate in strategic decision-making that impacts future generations

Each director commits to 100% annual participation in fundraising through a $1,000 give-or-get (recommended giving band $500–$2,500+ based on capacity). Gifts should be made unrestricted unless otherwise approved. Directors may satisfy β€œget” through solicited donations or sponsorships verified by staff. A confidential waiver/adjustment may be granted by the Board Chair and Treasurer to ensure inclusive participation. Directors make their pledge in Q1 and fulfill by June 30; installments are welcome. Expense reimbursements are not counted toward this commitment.
